Okay the case is going to go on… Well, why? Unless she is a multi millionaire and the kids want some of the money, the individual that got hurt should get it all. End of case. Hand over the bank accounts. The problem here is the lawyers want to keep making money and robbing the estate. Then when it’s all said and done, the estate is worth thousands vs a million and that’s it. Doesn’t sound fair to me.

The article said Sandy Herold’s husband and only child preceded her in death so I have to agree with you – hand over the estate to Charla Nash and stop with the lawsuits already.

Hey Baxter, the only think you can say in response to this story is that lawyers make you sick? What a small, reductionist mind you must possess. Did the lawyers do this? I don’t know you, but I would bet that if something as horific as this were to happen to someone you love, you’d be the first to run to a lawyer.

Hope the people that are hatin’ on the lawyers never end up wrongfully convicted.

Was the aneurism a complication of the 200 Lb chimp sitting on her chest while he nibbled her nose?

i truly think we as a society need to smarten up. you may have been awared a $50 million lawsuit, but in this case, she probably has maybe 1/10 of that. incident happened over 1 yr ago, the remaining estate should be used to help cover what it can for the hospital and plastic surgery/transplant. i truly don’t see the state paying anything because it issued a permit for this lady to have the chimp. what amazes me that she still was in control of the chimp at her age. the fact that her friend (friend, i repeat) helped her. as a friend, i hope that the estate will help her financially to look better. unfortunately, emotionally the scars will probably never heal. the liability of the incident will not get paid by the state. it’d be like me having a cat or dog, and then sue the city because you allowed me to have one. not going to happen!

lawyers – well, they want to make money. if they can sue again and make more, they will even if they lose. someone will have to pay for their time and energy.

No amount of money will restore any quality of life to Nash. Even after a year in the Cleveland Clinic and multiple surgeries, she is permanently blind and looks horrific. Hopefully, the financial reward will allow her to “exist” comfortably.

As for Nash’s estate, what their damages are is debatable. ACCIDENTS = MONEY. (and their fees of course) The only thing we pathetic humans can award for a loss is money and that’s because of personal injury attorneys. If the estate doesn’t have financial troubles, why should it receive money?

This could/should have been avoided if Nash had just said “No” to Herold’s call to help her corral the 200 pound animal. Nash made a bad decision and assumed the risks. Of course her own negligence get’s over-looked here because of the severity of her injuries.
