Considering the magnitude of potential risk, the rigging should be done by a
“team” of qualified personnel, not assigned to an individual. You can never trust a human being to do the right thing when money is involved. The construction trades in NYC are notoriously corrupt as are city inspectors. When will government agencies wake up and make meaningful changes that make a difference?

well, it does matter that one individual is responsible. there is a foreman. he needs to be sure that things are done correctly. i used to operate a crane onboard an aircraft carrier and we had a constant maintenance and inspection schedule. we always had a pre-op inspection we had to do. the main thing we noticed with all the crane errors, was not enough inspections done by the city. i can imagine the ones that the company should have been doing. someone has got to be responsible, if not a particular person at the actual site, then the crane company president. that will wake them up with a large settlement.

funny, who will make out in this case… because after this trial, their will probably be a civil trail for money due to the error of the contractor.
