I believe the lab worker should be commended for being honest. They made a mistake and owed up to it. Home many lab workers would cover up the situation until down the line something came out afetr genic testing. It has happened. As a society we can’t make the medical field scared to report mistakes. I was very lucky to have a child with the help of fertility and that child is everything to me.

Not to make light of this accident, but whenever people play around with nature, things always seem to go wrong!

Reminds me of those great lines from “Young Frankenstein”:

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [to Igor] Now that brain that you gave me. Was it Hans Delbruck’s?
    Igor: [pause, then] No.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Ah! Very good. Would you mind telling me whose brain I DID put in?
Igor: Then you won’t be angry?
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: I will NOT be angry.
    Igor: Abby Someone.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [pause, then] Abby Someone. Abby who?
    Igor: Abby Normal.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [pause, then] Abby Normal?
Igor: I’m almost sure that was the name.

Don’t talk about something you know nothing about. Things rarely go wrong. I have a wonderful Son to prove it.

I’m happy that it worked out for you. I mean no disrespect to the family or to those that go this route. And you’re right, I don’t know anything about this.

I was attempting to lighten the mood in what must be a very disheartening case for the family and the lab worker involved. Just my opinion, but like many things, such as the BP case in the gulf, there are many things in life that shouldn’t be tampered with.

we have so many kids who need a home. i know that many folks would like to be able to have their own kids. in today’s society, it’s a tough world. we make decisions and we have to live with them. remember that old saying, some folks we can please and some we won’t. we have to be an understanding person that allows your opinions and concepts. i am glad this person admitted to the mistake, but to be permanently reassigned? i am suprised with the fines handed out, this fine was not more.
