Our firm has represented and sold benefits agencies not only to Brown & Brown but other acquirers as well. Now that the health care legislation has passed, some acquirers believe that there will still be a role for benefits brokers going forward, particularly those that service large groups and the middle market. I was speaking with a broker who mentioned that benefits firms in Canada (where there is nationalized health care) still exist after adapting their business and compensation model to the new environment.

OK, I give up… Why is B&B buying Benefit/Health Insurance AGENCIES even while our country continues down the path of SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE?
I know B&B can’t compete so they just BUY the competition, but this zeal to acquire Benefit Agencies has got me stumped???
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks
