“The accused former priest is not getting off lightly: He has been ordered to pay $27 million in compensatory damages and was ordered Wednesday to pay another $30 million in punitive damages.

Attorneys for the victim who filed the lawsuit say they don’t expect to collect any money from DeLuca.”

if you know you are not expecting money, then why are we filing these lawsuits? you will never get anything from these priests. the lawyers will now give the bill to the plaintiffs for their appropriate share of the money they were to get… shame on these lawyer for not doing their homework… lots of time, money and money and energy lost – oh did i say MONEY! wonder why are courts are bogged down.

i agree that it is a tragedy… but looks it has been over 50 years…

Anyone who waits this long to come forward with an alleged abuse claim should be told to shove-it. It’s absurd that everthing else in the world has a statute of limitations except this. If it didn’t bother this creting for 5 decades, he should shut up and not embarass himself by trying to get rich quick.
