Having worked in the independent claims business for over twenty years i must admit that the few Harleysville claims i’ve handled were pretty rough because, sorry to say, the Harleysville adjuster was dumb as dirt. Technology? They sent me a cd with coverage info because, for whatever reason, they didn’t have the tech capacity to email it.
As an employee of Harleysville Insurance, I applaud the efforts of Michael Browne and the Management team for effectively turning around Harleysville.
Harleysville continues to be one great company to work for
I am proud to be an employee of Harleysville Insurance and look forward to many more productive years there.
Congrats again to Michael and the management team.
I presume you have been perfectly content to accept Harleysville’s checks in payment of your fees for the past 20 years. Instead of applauding efforts and results, you sling mud. I’d never hire you or your firm as my TPA with your attitude. Every TPA I’ve ever worked with tried to assist the company in making it’s claims process better.
The way claims are handled is where the rubber meets the road in the insurance/premium exchange. It is great to see insurance CEOs who understand this all too often marginalized fact.
There was a change in management in Nashville and there has yet to be an announcement sent as to who is charge and when the marketing rep who had field underwriting authority will be replaced. It appears the Atlanta Office is in the same position.
In 20 plus years working with a myriad of insurance carriers, Harleysville is far and away our best Agency partner. The simple fact is they ask our opinion, listen intently and more importantly they follow through.
Too many carriers provide their Agency partners lip service, or change direction at the slightest headwind. Harleysville has consistently maintained their strategy, understanding their core strengths, which shows in their results. Kudos to the entire management team , especially the Northeast Region!
Must be nice, Mike. I work in a good sized agency that has seen steady growth, even through the recession, yet every piece of business submitted to HV is seemingly ignored. I’ve spoken with colleagues at other agencies, and pretty much come away with the same info. It’s like the lights are on, but nobody is home. Glad to see they are doing something up in your neck of the woods. Too bad they are missing some big opportunity here.
Agree with some of the comments here. Management isn’t all that impressive, and neither are the underwriters. If they can write it cheap and with no effort, then it has Harleysville written all over it in Illinois. they’re the flavor of the month right now, but how long can this continue? Is that what we really need right now? Our agency is staying away.

There is no management in Atlanta.
