Another reason to implement tort reform. While it is very unfortunate that someone died, it is a certainty of life. If the mother’s cause of death was from natural causes, will the plaintiff counsel sue God?
I don’t care where or how prepared you are, 20 inches of snow will shut down a city. PERIOD! Freakin ridiculous. I am sorry they lost their mother, truly. But come folks! Would you sue in the summer if there was too much traffic? Pitiful
Here in Western NY, when we get dumped on, we still manage to function, but EVERYTHING comes to a crawl. If a plow is stuck in the same traffic everyone else is, that plow is going to be useless. Tragedy, yes. City’s fault, no.
I think this is tragic that this person died but life is not fair and that was a bad blizzard. Bad things happen regardless how much we like to think we can control our lives. No negligence in my opinion and govt immunity comes into play too.
Since there were several news reports about the time of this snow saying that there was a union sponsored work slowdown, perhaps this is a good time to sign the petition for a national right to work law. Holding sick people, in this case a woman with a heart attack, hostage for more money is not something we should tolerate.
When your number is up; it’s up. There is no guarantee that even if the ambulance did arrive on time that the mother would have survived the heart attack. I, too, am very sorry for the loss of her mother. What a waste of time trying to sue the city.
I agree, they should try suing God for the untimely event of the heart attack. Should this have happened the week before, perhaps mom would still be around. Maybe not. God decides either way.
we all apparently agree that this is a bad situation made bad because mother nature decided to make snow fall. in reality, if this person would have thought about it, how fare would they have been if they had to drive their own vehicle to the hospital? does this person know how many other calls that may have happened prior to her call? next thing this person is not going to realize, that in natural events, there may not be enough emergency vehicles to be available. many may have been enroute either to or from the incident – like accidents or other house events like this lady’s heart attack. sure, you can’t profit from what the man upstairs has laid upon her life. surely, she is in a better place not to have to worry about a snowfall.

I feel sorry for the woman over the loss of her mother, but this lawsuit is absolute crap. As if the city had control over the weather.

Why does a Government employee need a Union?
Take this suit all the way up to the Supreme Being! When God calls you home that is the highest court.
Gee-wiz why don’t they also sue the ambulance for not having half tracks or helicopter blades. What if the weather was bad on the heli-pad, what then?
Just another ambulance chasing SOB lawyer who needs to be disbarred…after he pays court costs for losing this frivolous lawsuit.
