Police vehicles are frequently fitted with different suspension components from the civilian version. I would not be surprised if this were the case in these Impalas.

After looking at some proprietary repair info on these cars I don’t see any trend suggesting an inherent defect.

To Water Bug: If you have access to proprietary repair info on these cars, I would be interested in knowing if you have any conflict of interest in posting here. If you work for Chevrolet to access this data, your post is questionable. If you are a regulator, federal or otherwise, then your post might have some validity. If you are an attorney, same issue may be present as if you worked for GM. Please indicate if your posting is self-serving or in the public interest.

You’re making a big deal over nothing — clearly they don’t work for GM, but anyone who is a gear head or motor head knows — they will, generally, have a better suspension for handling and cornering, thus giving them an advantage over typical run-in-the mill car drivers in chases or things of the sort.

I can say that knowing that my township equips chassis braces on their cop cars.

Don’t make such a butt-hurt sensitive ‘U DONT KNOW’ kind of post, geeze… People are funny.

It’s kinda common sense that suspension could/would be slightly different from typical civilian automobiles. Not saying I am right, but I am saying it’s a credible claim, so relax and just make your comment, don’t get all pissy and accuse them of being a ‘conflict of interest’.

A close family member had a 2010 Impala that lost all power as she drove down the freeway. Out of the blue it would cease to run. 3 different GM dealers said they couldn’t fix it because it wouldn’t do the same thing for them. GM nor the dealers wanted to make it right. NEVER buy GM products.
