Are you kidding me??? How can any jury NOT say this guy is committing fraud? He’s “too sore” to do non-lifting inspections as an employee, but can compete in body building contests while allegedly permanently disabled?? Must be one hell of a union!
The charges were mail fraud, weird. So maybe that’s the only reason the jury ruled the way they did. It’s clearly fraud but maybe the mail fraud charges couldn’t stick.
Also, yes, “The city’s retirement board terminated his benefits” so at least that is good news.
I thought the point of the story is that he won his benefits back so he will be able to continue receiving benefits for disability (while body building and playing baseball).
