Since when does INSURANCE FRAUD in the amount of 40K not carry a penalty of more than this slap on the wrist – is it because they were too stupid to put together a better claim????? We all pay for fraud and the defense costs to defend in our daily premiums, so if you are thiking the big bad insurance companies can absorb this you need to know you absorb these costs in your premium increases. Perhaps we have to stop this at the source and start punishing crimes ……. any thoughts?

I have no answers but must agree that insurance fraud seems to be looked upon as a white collar crime which is not as “evil” as a strong armed robbery. In addition, juries see those types of people as being less harmful, and based on the usual, never-been-in-trouble-before backgrounds, juries and judges go easy on them, with the feeling that getting caught and ruining their own reputations is enough, not that that would make ME feel any better.
