Marsh Names Flynn CEO of U.S. Consumer Unit

Insurance broker Marsh has appointed Liz Flynn to the role of president and CEO of its U.S. consumer business, effective Oct. 1.

In her new role, Flynn will oversee all Marsh U.S. consumer operations consisting of four main business groups: association, employer benefits, sponsored program and franchise and private client services. Each group sells and administers customized insurance programs to their respective employer and affinity groups, membership organizations, and high net-worth individuals.

She will be based in New York and report to Joe McSweeny, president of Marsh’s U.S. and Canada division.

Flynn comes to Marsh from Guy Carpenter where she has been serving as global chief operating officer responsible for strategy, marketing, transformational programs, client support services, technology, and risk and compliance. She spent most of her career at JPMorgan Chase serving in multiple leadership roles, including executive vice president.

Terry Bernier, who has served as interim president and CEO of Marsh U.S. consumer since Nov. 2010, will assume the role of chairman of the business unit.
