A front group for big chemical, tobacco, insurance, pharmaceutical and other companies whose products or pollution have been known to make people sick or kill them, attacks judges and juries who hold their members accountable in court. This isn’t news. It’s PR.

Go on back to your Communist Manifesto, Comrade.

Now that’s ironic isn’t it? The world’s largest Communist government, the People’s Republic of China controls the industries there that pollute, poison and kills its own citizens, and they surpress the right of their citizens to take legal redress against those abuses.

His name might be ComradeAnon, but your support of tort reform pretty much toes the Communist party line. DO NOT QUESTION AUTHORITY!

Sad how in your world, black is white and white is black.

Big difference between Chinese govt and tort reform in the USA. Sounds like you are the one that does not want to question authority, but instead allow it to keep swinging to the left. Go far enough and you’ll have the Communism that you so rightously, unfortunately believe to be freedom. Question authority always! When it oversteps its bounds, return it back where it belongs. We’ve had numerous opportunities to do that in the past 5 years!!

            How wrong could you be?

I do question authority and I want citizens to be able to do so as well, in court and I want them to eb able to sue businesses that cause them harm.

Tort reform advocates are no better than authoritarian Communists who tell citizens that they can’t get redress for their injuries.

I abhor Communism. I question authority. Citizens rights to air their grievances in court has always been an American right and tradition. Why do you hate our American way of life?

There is a big difference between tort reform and hating the American way of life! Maybe that’s the problem. If its not extreme, its not understood.. You tell me?

The awards in this country are so out of line that one can hardly afford to do business. BOCare is a good example. Increase the number of insured by 30 million (using their numbers), but do not increase the number of doctors or improve tort reform. The CYA that drives patient care today is extremely high, in tomorrow’s world no time for CYA, yet there will be millions more patients. Maybe we can all be millionairs from bogus lawsuits. Oh I forgot, the atty gets most of the award…

By the way, you are not the other point of view. Its the same ole’ uniformed whine we’ve heard for years.

Judging from the vast majority of comments in IJ, I most certainly am the other point of view.

There is NO difference between tort reform and hating the American way of life. You just can’t admit that you don’t trust your fellow Americans sitting on juries who hear evidence to make decisions as they have done for centuries. That’s the American way of life and you can’t stand it.

Your comment about no one being able to afford to do business is just silly. Have you seen corporate profits in the last several years? Businesses in this country are raking in record profits. You think Wal Mart is going out of business because of the high cost of slip and fall settlements? You’re delusional.

Tort reform means putting limits on yoru fellow citzens right to air their grivances in court. That’s exactly what Communists do. You can pick up your Party card on your way out.

No amount of money will make a person whole. The entire basis of our compensation system for plaintiffs is utterly wrong. Money does NOT equal justice for the tort of another. Pain and Suffering is just a ploy by the plaintiff bar to get rich for little work or scamming the system.

This is not in support of frivilous lawsuits or rediculous judgements. But, if money “does NOT equal justice for the tort of another”, what is the alternative? Not everyone who alleges pain and suffering is scamming the system? What other ways besides money is there to award the party that has been wronged? Maybe a judge can sentence the tortfeasor to be the injured party’s butler.
