Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown wants to increase the number of applications to a federally funded health insurance program run by the state.
Brown kicked off the second anniversary of the federal Affordable Care Act on Monday with a marketing campaign designed to enhance participation in the Maryland Health Insurance Plan.
MHIP is a state and federally funded plan for people who cannot qualify for health insurance because they have a pre-existing condition.
Brown was joined by Democratic Reps. John Sarbanes and Donna Edwards as well as other officials, for the announcement at Maryland Insurance Administration in Baltimore.
