WKFC Underwriting Managers Appoints Chief Casualty Officer in New York

Melville, N.Y.-based WKFC Underwriting Managers has appointed Adam Schnell as chief casualty officer. In his new role, Schnell will focus on developing new casualty product offerings with an emphasis on products liability and contractor classes of business.

Prior to joining WKFC, Schnell was chief casualty officer and executive vice president of Aspen Insurance. He managed the restructuring of Aspen Insurance’s national primary casualty portfolio, an underwriting platform with a focus on the Excess and Surplus (E&S) marketplace.

Before working at Aspen, he served as vice president, N.Y. regional manager and specialty casualty segment leader for ACE Westchester Specialty Group. At ACE, he led the reshaping of the company’s national portfolio, balancing it by class, risk profile, hazard level and territory.

Prior to ACE, Schnell spent three years as a casualty claims adjuster at Mutual Marine Office Inc. where he focused on construction, products, and owners, landlords, and tenants (OL&T) related claims before transitioning into an underwriting role focused on E&S casualty.

WKFC, part of Chicago-based Ryan Specialty Group’s RSG Underwriting Managers, is a managing general agency in the excess and surplus lines arena. Its business is comprised of property risks, general liability and specialty lines such as windstorm and earthquake deductible buybacks, equipment breakdown, inland marine, professional liability, weather, special events programs. Over 90 percent of its business is written through a network of 150 wholesalers located throughout the country.
