When it comes down to it, the State of NY has no clue how to promote business in NYS, and is a very poor regulator of financial services – just look at their miserable State Fund for WC which excludes brokers; their tacit approval allowing Empire BCBS to drop 250,000 small business group health insureds and reduce their broker commissions to a flat $5/mo/contract. Hey NY – are you kidding me?! When are you going to stand up for your small business agencies and brokerages who are the only ones ready and willing to help the public.

Totally agree. This is a slap at retail agents and brokers around the state. NY will never get it. A disclaimer? Really Govenor? Have you seen the commercial the state of NY is running touting themselves as the “new New York for business” with the Robert DeNiro voice-over? What a joke! Just the mere fact that they have to run an ad like that shows they have a long way to go to convince the public they are friendly to small business.

Cuomo’s veto of this bill is outrageous and obvious conflict of interest akin to taking money from a contributor to influence legislation that would benefit the contributor.

This is another example of Politicians who say they support small business while doing just the opposite. The average voter in New York state is too partisan to care. My local officials gave Geico $300 million to come here because god knows they needed my money.
