Bravo to the Mass AG. This is one way the scammers stay in business – submit lots of small claims, nothing too large, so most of them get paid without drawing too much attention. Other state AGs should take note.

Insurance fraud is all over the place. In Texas, we have had a lot of staged accidents where the perps pull in front of an expensive car like a Mercedes and then slam on their brakes. The resulting collision triggers a lawsuit for BI & PD. Eventually they get caught, but they cause havoc when they are going on. Unfortunately, the police typically blame the vehicle rear ending the car in front in most cases, but eyewitnesses and a good adjustor have broken some of these cases with some background checks on how many claims these people filed. There are still a lot of ambulance chaser lawyers out there who have some Chiropractor on the payroll to submit false claims on injuries. They have gotten caught as well.
