PIA in Glenmont, N.Y., Names Deputy Director

Kelly Norris has been named deputy director of the Glenmont, N.Y.-based Professional Insurance Agents associations of New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut and New Hampshire and their affiliated organizations.

The PIA affiliates are managed by PIA Management Services, the umbrella corporation that manages 11 organizations, including Young Insurance Professionals, the Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association.

Norris is an experienced association executive, with more than 20 years’ experience working with associations.

Prior to joining PIA, Norris was the executive director of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers Inc., Albany, N.Y., where among her many responsibilities, she served as the staff liaison to the association’s executive committee, board of directors and standing committees, as well as 23 local chapters and its national affiliate; and was the key contact for the association’s grassroots legislative program. She successfully passed five bills through the Legislature and the governor’s office during her 14-year tenure.

Prior to that, Norris was the executive director of the New York State Consumer Finance Association, Albany, N.Y., where she managed all aspects of the association, including: accounting, legislative liaison, event planning, communications, public relations and education. Since 1991, Norris has been a member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Empire Society of Association Executives. She is a past council member of the Certified Association Executive (2005-06).

PIA Management Services Inc. is the umbrella corporation that manages the Glenmont, N.Y.-based Professional Insurance Agents associations, representing independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
