More Americans losing jobs, yet another fine example of corporate greed.

Wrong conclusion Marie. Had you read the article completely, you would have noticed they offered transfers to these employees or they could work at home in some cases. This is all about getting out of NY because of the economic atmosphere there, heavy taxes, regulation, cost of living, cost of doing business with higher payroll and benefits. NY has basically priced themselves out of the market. State Farm is moving a substantial operation to Dallas/Ft Worth because Illinois is so overbearing. When will the blue states wake up?

As I recall, Met Life recently decided to move their NY operation to North Carolina. What could possibly be wrong with operating in one of the heaviest taxed, regulated states in the union? Let’s not leave out the cost of living there.

Most employees offered positions elsewhere? Really! If there’s an opening you have to apply for the position….same goes for work at home. Yeah Farmers!

This makes me mad. I have 21 years of call center experience and here in Portland where I live call center after call center has shut down never to return. Corporate greed as well as a too high minimum wage and too high rents here are causing this I think. Working from home is horrible and you would have to take ownership of the Do Not Call laws working from home when people threaten you when you telemarket or outbound call them. Also they do not have to pay you at all when you work from home. I had a friend who worked 3 work at home jobs and did not get paid from none of them and had to go to the labor board and before he could get his money all three companies filed bankruptcy and the judgements meant nothing. So work at home is a 100% scam and means that you have no job. Here in Portand there are so many call centers that all went under here not ever to return that many that live here had to go on public welfare to be able to get by. Corporations suck and this one sucks that I just read about. I hate your guts Farmers for what you did to all these people.
