Ryan Specialty Group’s ThinkRisk Underwriting Agency announced three new hires in its Northeast offices: Jonathan Koppel, Katie Duff and Nicole Simmons.
Koppel joins ThinkRisk as a senior underwriter. He is based in ThinkRisk’s new Philadelphia office, underwriting converging risk liability products. Koppel spent the past four years as an underwriter handling for-profit and non-profit D&O, professional liability, and cyber liability products for Philadelphia Insurance Companies. He also has more than five years of sales experience in the real estate and same-day delivery and logistics industries.
Duff joins ThinkRisk as an underwriting manager in the firm’s Bloomfield, Conn., office. Duff got her start in the insurance industry with Chubb Specialty Insurance 10 years ago, and has spent the past seven years underwriting professional lines with XL Insurance in Hartford, Conn. While at XL, She focused on management liability coverage lines: D&O, EPL, fiduciary and crime. She will underwrite ThinkRisk’s existing product suite, as well as helping to build/expand into other professional and management products.
Simmons joins the firm as assistant vice president with a focus on media and other professional liability products. She is also based in Bloomfield, Conn., office. Simmons brings 15 years of industry experience to the role. She started her career at Executive Risk in 1995. She then joined Darwin Professional Underwriters as an assistant vice president of professional liability products. Most recently she worked at Chubb underwriting media and other professional liability products.
ThinkRisk, based in Kansas City, Missouri, is a managing general underwriting agency specializing in E&O insurance in the converging areas of media, advertising, technology, privacy and network security. The firm offers coverage backed by Aspen Specialty U.S., a specialty insurance provider with an “A” (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best Co. (most recent evaluation June 2013).
