Canuck, you hit the nail on the head. The state’s solution to distracted driving is to erect more distractions. This is typical of the way politicians and bureaucrats “help” us. Roads would be much safer if they took down all of the idiotic regulatory signs and left only the useful ones that tell you what road you’re on and where you’re going. Anything else, like speed limit signs, seat belt warnings and other such state-issued threats, only take drivers’ attention off the task they should be concentrating on, which is keeping their vehicles on the road and not hitting stuff.
A simple “Don’t Text & Drive” or a big red “X” through a cell phone should be sufficient — if the driver isn’t already too busy sending a text message to note the sign.
I hope there isn’t TOO much information on these road signs; trying to read all that while driving along could be as distracting as texting.

So, you don’t want speed limits. Or is it, you just don’t want anyone to know the speed limit so that cops can write more tickets?
The former. As you have hinted at, the only thing speed limits accomplish is to suck more money out of us and waste our time.

I just hit a post trying to read the do not text message…Damn!
Yeah, they will stop (or not start) texting because there’s a sign telling them not to. You can’t fix stupid!

That was a real billboard by the way – google it if you want a laugh.
Honk if you love Jesus. Text him while driving if you want to meet him.
Another real-life sign.
