As if politicians and attorneys already didn’t have a bad rep, along comes this suit. Shouldn’t she also be suing her father and brother for bringing the asbestos home? And the smoking wasn’t the cause?

Perhaps her father and brother are already dead from exposure to asbestos.

Although I feel compassion for her as lung cancer is a terrible disease how is this suit going to improve the quality of her remaining time on the earth? We all know that this case and the appeals will most likely go far beyond her expected life so what is the purpose?

Mesothelioma is relatively rare, but there is a trust fund set up for plaintiff attorneys to gnaw on for quite a long time. How else would they be able to fund those commercials we see with the same frequency as GEICO? I suspect smoking is the proximate cause of Ms. McCarthy’s cancer.

okay, so let me get this straight cigarette boxes have a warning label telling us it’s harmful for our health. Yet, your tell me that people in general have no common sense also? oh wait, and this women is 69 has smoked most likely her entire life. She became an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) in 1964 and she is NOW saying that the asbestos exposure caused all of these issues to her health and names 70 companies that might be linked to her current condition. Omg! what is this world coming too?

How is it that someone with lung cancer thinks that smoking is not the cause of the cancer? If she was exposed to asbestos when she was young, what makes her think the cancer is from that and not smoking for most of her life? While I do have sympathy for her in having lung cancer, I believe it was her choice to smoke. She knew the risks of cancer if she read the warning labels. I can’t imagine that a court or jury would decide that 100% of the cancer was caused by asbestos exposure as a child and not from 50 years of cigarette smoking.

I’ve lived in an area that is full of asbestos. It my not show up in a screening for more then 30 years after exposure. It was mined in our own back yard. This woman has a long battle ahead of her, the courts and just trying to breath and be comfortable. No one has a right to judge her for her decision to file a suit. I am watching my mom die from this right now, she has less the 6 months to live . I’ve also watched a large number of my extended family and community members suffer and die. It’s a sad thing to see. I support her in this and feel sorry her her and her family. Unless you have walked a mile in her shoes then shut up…

CONGRESSWOMAN MCCARTHY MADE A TERRIBLE CHOICE TO SMOKE. I DO NOT THINK SHE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR HER POOR DECISION. SHE WILL ALSO HAVE EXCELLENT HEALTH COVERAGE, BEING A MEMBER OF CONGRESS. NOT LIKE THE REST OF US.
