New Hartford, N.Y.-based Utica National Insurance Group announced two changes in the executive leadership team.
Brian Lytwynec was named to the newly created position of assistant to the chairman and chief strategy officer. And Richard Creedon has been named president and chief operating officer, a title Lytwynec formerly held. Creedon was executive vice president, senior claims officer and general counsel. Both changes are effective immediately.
In his new role as assistant to the chairman and chief strategy officer, Lytwynec will drive the company’s long-range strategic planning. He will also be expanding the company’s analytics capabilities throughout the organization and continue to be responsible for enterprise risk management.
Lytwynec, who has also been named chair of the company’s investment advisory committee, joined Utica National in 1981 as an underwriter. Working his way up through the organization, he was named vice president in 1988. He has also held the titles of senior vice president – commercial lines, executive vice president and, most recently, president and chief operating officer since 2006. Lytwynec holds the CPCU designation and is a current member of the Utica chapter of the CPCU Society.
As the newly appointed president and chief operating officer, Creedon will be responsible for marketing, sales, customer service and retention, and underwriting, as well as Utica National’s business segments, legal functions and claims.
Creedon joined Utica National in 1998 as assistant vice president and director of workers compensation claims. He has worked his way up through the organization including as senior claims officer, senior vice president and, most recently as executive vice president, senior claims officer and general counsel. Creedon is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Society of Workers Compensation Professionals and serves as chairperson of the New York Special Funds Executive Committee.
