Vermont Gov. Asks for Independent Review of State’s Health Care Website

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin says he asking for an independent review of the flawed rollout of Vermont Health Connect, the website where people and businesses are to go to sign up for health insurance coverage.

In addition to the review, Shumlin is having the Agency of Commerce and Community Development Secretary Lawrence Miller work on the website to ensure it is fully functional by March 31.

Despite the troubled start, the state says more than 24,000 Vermonters and their families are now covered through Vermont Health Connect. Another 29,200 Vermonters who are covered through their employer have been directly enrolled in a Vermont Health Connect plan.

And Shumlin says the new health care law has allowed about 30,000 Vermonters to be added to Medicaid.
