Penn. Man Charged With Theft of $630K in Insurance Funds

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced on Feb. 7 that criminal charges have been filed against Derl Knarr of Herndon, Penn.

According to authorities, Knarr, age 55, is charged in a one-count felony. Authorities said he allegedly stole insurance funds while working for Allstate Financial Services. The thefts are alleged to have occurred between 2006 and 2012, and total over $630,000.

If convicted, the maximum penalty under the federal statute is 10 years imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine of over $250,000.

Indictments and criminal information are only allegations. All persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s State College Resident office.
