Vermont Health Connect Website Temporarily Shut Down

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin says the state is temporarily shutting down the Vermont Health Connect website so it can be fixed before the start of the next enrollment period in November.

Shumlin and other state officials said at a Tuesday news conference at the headquarters of Vermont Health Connect that people who use the website will be able to manage their health insurance by telephone for the next two months.

The governor and interim Human Services Secretary Harry Chen say the oversight of Vermont Health Connect will now be managed by Lawrence Miller, director of health care reform.

Miller said now is a good time to take down the website because its use is relatively low.

Vermont Health Connect has been plagued by problems since it went online Oct. 1.
