Boston Children’s Hospital to Pay $40K Over Data Breach Allegations

    OK so where is the equal justice here??? Defense Contractor – SAIC was neither fined nor punished for the loss of 4.9 million active military patient records… Under the DoD these were “classified” records not to be left unattended for 8 hours in an SAIC employee’s vehicle. These records were also unencrypted and have never been recovered, yet a Federal Judge in Washington DC basically ruled “no harm thus no penalty”. Using the ratios of the penalties assessed against Childrens and Beth Israel Hospital, SAIC should have been assessed an $80 million penalty for their massive and inexcusable data breach.
