Massachusetts continues to the lead the nation in health care with more than 96 percent of residents reporting coverage despite lingering cost barriers.
That’s according to a survey by The Center for Health Information and Analysis, created by a 2012 state law.
One in four respondents reported having an unmet health care need due to cost, and almost one in five reported difficulty paying family medical bills over the past 12 months.
Those responding to the survey said they tried to reduce costs by switching to a less expensive insurance plan, going without care, or trying to stay healthier.
The report also found non-elderly adults and low-income populations were more likely to have gained coverage during the past year, while Hispanics were more likely to be uninsured at some point.
