N.J. Motorcycle Accident Deaths Rose in 1st 9 months of 2014

The Governors Highway Safety Association says fatalities from motorcycle accidents in New Jersey rose during the first nine months of 2014 after dramatic declines in recent years.

The Asbury Park Press reports fatalities between January and September rose from 48 to 54 in 2014. That’s a more than 10 percent increase from the same time span in 2013.

The increase comes after stark drops in recent years. State police statistics show the number of motorcycle fatalities dropped from 94 in 2011 to 56 in 2013.

The GHSA says the full-year tally is expected to show about a 2 percent drop in motorcycle deaths nationwide.
