N.J. Brothers Admit Recruiting Auto Accident Victims for Chiropractic Facilities

Two brothers in New Jersey have admitted organizing a scheme to recruit motor vehicle accident victims as patients for chiropractic facilities they controlled.

State authorities say 52-year-old Anhuar Bandy and his 53-year-old brother, Karim Bandy, both of Colts Neck, New Jersey, pleaded guilty Tuesday to insurance fraud. Each man now faces nearly seven years in prison when they are sentenced Sept. 11.

Authorities say the brothers paid “runners” $1,000 for each patient they could bring in for treatment. The runners obtained police reports under the state’s public records law and visited patients’ homes to urge them to get care.

Authorities say neither brother is a licensed chiropractor or medical doctor.

For nearly five years, authorities say the offices the brothers controlled billed insurers for millions of dollars in services they purportedly provided patients.
