Saint Joseph’s University’s Academy of Risk Management and Insurance in Philadelphia announced today it will present its Insurance Executive of the Year Award to Lloyd’s Chief Executive Officer Inga Beale. She is the first female to lead Lloyd’s, the world’s leader in specialist insurance.

Saint Joseph’s will present the award to Beale during a dinner in her honor on Oct. 1 in Philadelphia. Proceeds from the event will help to fund program enrichment activities and scholarships to Saint Joseph’s University’s risk management and insurance students.

“We are honored to present Inga Beale with this award,” says Mike Angelina, executive director of the Academy of Risk Management and Insurance. “Lloyd’s is recognized globally as a leader in all things insurance related, but more importantly, Inga Beale’s career speaks not only to the global reach of the insurance industry, but the importance of diversity, leadership and professionalism.”

“Ms. Beale’s leadership is rooted in the historical traditions of the London Market, while at the same time she continues to expand the markets of Lloyd’s, drive innovation, and progressive thinking. These are attributes we want our students to see and understand. Inga Beale is clearly the type of role model we hope to see our students emulate,” said Angelina.

Beale is a 30-year veteran of the insurance industry, and has held various underwriting and management positions. She began her career as a treaty underwriter with Prudential Assurance Company, and has held leadership positions at GE Insurance Solutions, Converium, and Zurich Insurance Group where she was a member of the Group Management Board in Zurich, becoming global chief underwriting officer in 2009. In 2012, Beale was appointed group chief executive officer at Canopius. In 2014 Inga joined Lloyd’s as chief executive officer.

The Academy of Risk Management and Insurance was established in 2006 to promote and support the concept of risk management and insurance education at Saint Joseph’s University.
