If you do the crime, be prepared to do the time (or in this case pay the fine). The excuse that Uber filled a void further confirms, they knew that they were operating outside the law.

I’ve followed the Uber/Lyft saga through several jurisdictions. It was incredible to see the political and special interests resistance to embracing a ‘better built’ mousetrap even though the public overwhelmingly wanted it. The citizenry at large be damned. It’s a really foul dynamic when entrenched taxi interests can lose their monopoly and fearful elected official’s a revenue stream into their re-election campaign war chests dissipates. So they over-regulate them ,fine them and impose barriers to their ability to serve the public.

Is it any wonder why today’s electorate is fed up with government in general and sleazy politicians in particular?
