Executive orders are not law, so nothing is illegal here with businesses defying this incompetent Governor’s orders. I would have expected the Insurance Commissioner to know this as well, but sadly, there is poor “leadership” in Pennsylvania.

Governor Wolf was wrong on his actions in PA from the start back in March and Pennsylvania’s have now suffered for 8-9 weeks through his incompetence and negligence. Maybe being in the shadows of his equally unqualified counterparts Gov. Cuomo and Gov. Murphy has given Gov. Wolf the gusto he otherwise never displays.

Stupid is as stupid does . . . thanks for nothing Gov. Wolf!

Maybe executive orders are not “law’ but they carry the same weight in emergencies. So I know you aren’t an attorney or you would know that. As for your assertion that there is poor leadership in PA, you jumped to a conclusion before you gave any evidence of what you think good leadership would have been when COVID first hit the state. Assertions are not fact and you lack any facts. The fact is, as offered by the scientific and medical communities, the spread of the virus was reduced due to the stay at home orders issued by governors. Do you think that we could have done so if the legislature debated our response before any actions were taken? When I am sick or wondering of I was exposed to any disease, I don’t call Mr. Mastriano, I call my doctor. So the governors asked the medical and scientific community for advice, not their party. It was the governor’s call and if he did otherwise, you and your ilk would have been calling for his head. You can’t have it both ways AFTER the fact. At one time, people trusted scientists and the medical community. It was trust in leadership like these governors that made polio vaccines mandatory. I like Wolf’s actiions in this crisis; I don’t know that trusting the business lead GOP and a garbage man could do better. And stop hiding behind a nom de guerre like Mr. Integrity. from your post, I doubt you have much of that (I can argue ad hominem too)

And more importantly, they have refused to dial these shut downs back, so you spoke as if it was past tense, they are currently still doing it.

This is you having it both ways. If the shut down is shown to be ineffective, they should re open immediately. Right now they are calling people against science, and later will say they had no reason to think they should open.

You can’t ignore that the economy needs to open for months, take poor methods, and say you acted per the times.

You either did well as a governor or you did not, and these shut down orders, were not. They need to drop the stay at home orders immediately.

Executive orders are not law? The Pennsylvania Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of Gov. Wolf’s order, and the US Supreme Court decided not to overturn it. You are right about one thing, though: Stupid is as stupid does.

Suffering for 8-9 weeks? Riding the couch, having groceries delivered, Door Dashing your favorite restaurants, and watching Netflix is hardly suffering. Real suffering are those who are struggling to find a breath awaiting help in your local ICU. True incompetence resides in The Oval Office. And I quote, “If we didn’t do any testing we would have very few cases.” That’s the stupid to which you refer.

Captain, why don’t you go to the hospitals and give your noble life in service to the dying? You might find it’s not as bad as you think it is.
Trump is right about the testing…hence why our fire department tested positive but no one was that sick. Our little town in Texas was used as an example of how awful it was out here but they were counting everyone in the prisons in the adjoining counties that tested positive along with our first responders who after mandatory testing had to stay at home for 14 days with symptoms that lasted 3 – 5 days and were NOT severe. Most didn’t run fever, but you go on and believe the crap you’re being fed by the governors that want to take your every liberty away. You’re a nutcase.

LOL Perplexed only you could suggest someone give their live in service to the dying and that it “wouldn’t be as bad as you think it is”. You are so woefully ignorant of EVERY issue on this forum, for god’s sake do your research on ONE single subject on these boards instead of parroting every single right-wing opinion site. You’re from a little town in Texas, you are not seeing the full brunt of this pandemic like bigger cities are, clearly. Trying to pretend that your experience is valid in this way just makes you look even dumber than you usually do.

You’re pretending now that the governors are feeding us crap, but you’d have us believe the president isn’t? The president that’s lied over 18,000 times in office? You’re delusional, lady.

        peerplexed,
I know people who caught this. They became very ill. And for you to say Tramp is right about testing, find me an oncologist who suggests the way to beat cancer is to avoid being screened. Tramp has said a lot of crazy, illogical, and absolutely idiotic things, but that one is up there with some of the worst. It’s like a Super Duper dumb comment.

Your picture of what will occur is absurd. You can’t have a house for free or food, and when 20-30% of the population isn’t working, you can’t fund either.

This comment lacks any reality as to how the world works and how the economy works.

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/04/22/covid-19-could-detonate-hunger-pandemic-with-millions-risk-world-must-act/

This is just the countries we help, 300,000 could die.

Those who are starving (not to death) would double with just a 5% of gdp drop, to 260 million from 130 million. I’ve already sourced this before Jon blew up the page. Go find it yourself.

What is sick is how much your side insists the shut down will have no affect.

As for the disease itself, it can be managed without business shut downs. Covid itself is not nearly as deadly as people say, swine flu was far more deadly, we got lucky in that it was a flu variant and a vaccine was easier to develop, the coronavirus is new entirely, but still, we did not shut down the economy in the early stages of Swine Flu, or at any point during it’s 60,000 rough death rate, and no one called Obama heartless for that or against science.

This is a political issue for you guys, nothing less, nothing more, and it’s disgusting.

Which ICU’s Captain P? There are no full hospitals, NONE! Keep believing the Scamdemic that has wrought what it was designed to do. Make people more fat, lazy and testosterone free dependent on government aid from their couches. Much easier to control the populace that way. No thanks, I’ll take my chances.

Who said the hospitals are full? That’s exactly one of the points of the shut downs, to make sure the hospitals are not overrun. Funny, most people I know are actually more active right now. The bike paths have more traffic than the roads. Not exactly fat, lazy, and testosterone-free. You obviously don’t know anyone who has caught this, do you? I do. And now, a close friend of our family just had a child test positive. Are you taking the Eric Trump message, that this is a hoax to stop the Mad Hatters conventions? If you want to take your chances, you can volunteer your time on the front line. Good luck to you!

No full hospitals? Look at the capital of Alabama. All ICU beds in Montgomery are full because of COVID 19.
      https://www.businessinsider.com/dire-coronavirus-alabama-icu-no-beds-2020-5
Did you watch the news reports last month? Numerous hospitals in the greater New York area were full, and the Army Corps of Engineers had to build temporary hospitals for the overflow. You have a right to your opinion, but you do not have a right to your own set of facts.

“President Donald Trump weighed in Monday, tweeting: “The great people of Pennsylvania want their freedom now, and they are fully aware of what that entails.”

No, Tramp, they don’t because you have been lying to them. When you and your son call this a hoax, people listen to you and therefore, are not fully aware of what it entails. It’s why 72 of your supporters who protested in WI contracted the virus. You do realize you are parading your voters out there, right?

I like how Trump called it a hoax, and the right-wing goon squad around here argued for weeks that no, he was saying x y z he wasn’t calling it a hoax! and now Don Jr calls it a hoax again. So you idiots were all wrong for the last two months, but we’re supposed to trust you on everything else? Yeah, right.
