November 5, 2020

A worker in Connecticut suffered serious injuries Monday when he fell about 50 feet from a tree and landed on a small shed, police said.

The man was up in the tree in Mystic preparing it for removal when it snapped below him and caused him to fall shortly before 8:30 a.m., police said. He was taken by helicopter to Hartford Hospital. His name and condition were not released.

Authorities said the worker was in the process of removing branches and topping the tree when it snapped. Police, paramedics and firefighters responded when someone called 911.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the tree to snap.
