Lawyers for the family of one of the German victims of the Concorde crash outside Paris on July 25th have filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Miami Florida seeking damages from Air France and other companies connected with the ill-fated plane.
The announcement follows the filing of a claim for damage reimbursement in a French court by Air France and its insurers against Houston based Continental Airlines, based on findings that a metal part from a Continental DC-10 punctured the tire, that led to the fire and crash of the Concorde.
The plaintiff’s attorney indicated that he had filed the suit in order avoid the possibility that Air France would obtain an order that claims to be filed exclusively in France.
In addition to Air France the complaint also names the British and French manufacturers of the Concorde, Continental, General Electric, Boeing (as successors to McDonnell Douglas the manufacturer of the DC-10) Goodyear, and Middle River Aircraft Systems, a supplier of engine parts.
