Copart Opens First Canadian Facility in Toronto

September 5, 2003

California-based Copart, Inc. announced that it has opened its first salvage facility in Canada, near Toronto. The addition of this 28-acre “greenfield” location brings the number of sites operated by the company to 103.

“We are extremely excited about opening up in Canada,” stated CEO Willis J. Johnson. “We have had numerous requests from customers to open in Canada. Many Canadian buyers already purchase vehicles from our U.S. locations via the web and are familiar with the Company and the quality of service we provide.”

The bulletin noted that “Since August 2002, Copart has added ten locations including two MAG sites in West Mifflin, PA and Richmond, VA and eight Copart salvage sites in Reno, NV; Springfield, MO; Corpus Christi, TX; Ft. Pierce, FL; Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Richmond, VA; Albany, NY and Toronto, Canada.”

Copart provides vehicle suppliers, primarily insurance companies, with a full range of services to process and sell salvage vehicles through auctions, principally to licensed vehicle dismantlers, rebuilders, repair licensees and used vehicle dealers.
