Allied World Promotes Nessa Goodman to Assistant VP-General Casualty

February 13, 2004

Allied World Assurance Co. [Europe], Limited [AWAC Europe] announced that Nessa Goodman has been promoted to the position of Assistant Vice President, General Casualty. She joined AWAC on November 4, 2002, in the position of Senior Underwriter, General Casualty.

Goodman began her career in the field of captive management and spent six years working with the Sinser group, initially in Dublin and later in their head office in Stockholm, Sweden. She then spent three years with XL Europe as a General Liability Underwriter working on their European-domiciled accounts. Immediately prior to joining AWAC Europe, she worked for a Dublin-based self-managed captive and was their international sales manager.

AWAC Europe president John Redmond commented: “As an experienced underwriter she has handled many of the larger, more difficult, excess casualty accounts written in Europe, and has been the lead underwriter for the majority of the business written in Dublin. In addition to helping establish AWAC’s general casualty business in Dublin and Continental Europe, Nessa has provided marketing support to the professional lines operation in Europe. Nessa’s ability to speak several languages has proven to be valuable in the European marketplace.”

When asked about what she hopes to achieve in her new role, Nessa stated: “In the past two years, I have been given the opportunity to learn as well as contribute to AWAC. In 2004, we will consolidate our position in the European market and build our business of key European clients while at the same time maintaining AWAC’s prudent-yet-flexible underwriting philosophy.”
