GE ERC Announces Global Appointments

GE ERC announced four key appointments, which it indicated, were “aimed at strengthening its connection with customers.”

GE Global Asset Protection Named Dane Lopes Vice President, Sales. GE Frankona Re announced the appointments of Rudi Flunger as Manager of the Facultative Aviation Team and of Stefan Lenhardt as Manager of the Aviation Treaty Team. Mark Brock joined GE Frankona Re as Professional Indemnity Leader.

Lopes will lead the national and international sales teams for all GE GAP Services customers. “We are excited to have Dane as our new GE GAP Services Sales Leader. Dane’s intense customer focus, energy, and experience will lead our efforts to deliver superior products and services to our markets,” stated Dan Eudy, President of GE GAP Services.

Lopes previously served as Industrial Risk Insurer’s Portfolio Leader of the Metro New York and Mid-Atlantic Region and was a member of GE’s Corporate Sales and Marketing group prior to joining IRI.

Both Flunger and Lenhardt will be based in Munich and will report directly to Florian Karner who was recently promoted to be the new leader of Global Aviation. The announcement also indicated that, “as part of this reorganization, the Aviation Terrorism team will be merged with the Facultative team.”

Flunger, a former consultant in the banking industry, “joined GE European Equipment Management (TIP) in 1997, taking the role of a Master Black Belt,” said the bulletin. “His next position was at GE Frankona Re which he joined in 2000, holding various positions within the Risk Management team, most recently as Head of Risk Management for Continental Europe and Specialty Markets. Flunger earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Vienna.”

Lenhardt joined GE Frankona Re’s Aviation department in 1993. He started working on the Aviation Treaty account, then managed the Space portfolio, before he took over responsibility for the Aviation terrorism/war business in early 2002. Lenhardt earned a degree in Business Administration at the University of Regensburg.

“We are pleased to see these two experienced people taking on expanded roles within the Global Aviation Team,” stated Ken Brandt, Chairman of GE Frankona Re’s board of management and head of Continental Europe and Specialty Markets. “A few weeks after Florian Karner’s appointment as Global Aviation Leader, his team is now up and running.”

Brock will be based at the London Underwriting Center, Minster Court, and will report to Martin Boreham, UK & Europe Casualty Facultative Leader. His mandate is “to strengthen the company’s lead position in the PI market and drive the book of business forward in 2004,” said the bulletin. He has extensive experience as a key PI underwriter and more recently as a broker and has a considerable knowledge of both the industry and the product.
