Number of CII Graduates on the Rise

June 20, 2005

The U.K.’s Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) notes that the number of candidates graduating with its Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Insurance is now the highest for eight examination sessions.

Results of the latest examination, held in April, lists 231 candidates who successfully completed the exam requirement for the Advanced Diploma (ACII) against 116 in October 2001. Similarly the Diploma (Dip CII) completions rose to 327, up from 109 eight sessions ago. The CII runs two main exam sessions each year in April and October.

The bulletin also noted: “A further 1096 candidates completed the new Certificate in Insurance (launched at the beginning of 2004) to be eligible to apply for qualified CII membership and the right to use the designatory letters Cert CII. This takes the number of candidates completing the Certificate past the 4,000 mark.”

CII marketing director Steve Wellard commented: “The impact of the CII’s new general insurance qualifications framework launched at the end of 2003 is plain to see. The framework is directly relevant to the needs of individuals and the organisations that employ them. We are seeing more students enter than ever before and it is extremely encouraging to see the number of successful completions continue to rise. It demonstrates a real commitment by the industry to competence and higher levels of professionalism.”

In the CII’s financial planning exams 285 completed the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate with a further 66 completing the Associateship, and 16 the Fellowship, membership requirements of the Personal Finance Society.
