Farmers Insurance hasn\’t helped their parent company in California. I\’m glad Farmers kept their District Manager program. For what reason I don\’t know.

Any change to Farmers\’ image is an improvement. I think changing the name to Zurich will do them some good.

I really don\’t understand why people who\’s livelyhood is based on Farmers would bash the company in a public forum. I think whoever wrote these comments are idiots and should rethink their position with the company. Obviously your not happy so move on! Farmers is a great company and has provided my family and I with a great opporutnity to have things we could of never had previously such as Freedom, Money and a opportunity to own my business. If your not satisified or happy with this opportunity then move on and get something better if you think you can otherwise suck it up and make something of the opportunity you were given. And to the Drunk Russian DM, we know who you are if that is you your a disgrace and should be fired if you did write those things on here. Lastly Farmers is a great brand and we are not changing the name! If you don\’t like the brand then move on to another please!!!!!!!

Didn\’t drink the Koolaid just believe that the opportunity is a great one if you want to take advantage of it. The company gives you the opportunity it is up to you to make the most of it!!!

…certainly helped their reputation in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. They were the first to agree to pay ALE for displaced residents and reportedly their claims professionals were prompt, courteous and fair. Zurich is a reputable company and by bringing all of the various products under that name they will raise the performance standards for the weaker units. They have some very good divisions and the competition among them is impressive. Perhaps that will \”bleed into\” Farmers Insurance. Certainly the industry and consumers would benefit from any additional influence of Zurich on Farmers.

Remember Mary? The poor Irish woman who had to act as her own attorney against Farmers and won big? My clients still ask me why a customer should ever have to sue in court, especially when they win their judgement. This, and the Farmers employee lawsuit (claims reps won over $40 million in a judgement upheld in California) reflects very badly on this company in California. Perhaps a name change would help. But then you still have to deal with their agents, claims and customer service people. Farmers gets you back where you belong….in court.

I was on the ground in Beaumont, Tx the day after Hurricane Rita had hit! Within days we (Farmers)were the only company in that area issuing ALE checks immediately no questions asked! We had District Managers, Agents, Claims People delivering food, and needed supplies by the boatloads to the people in that area. We did because we cared and we didn\’t need any Public approval from the media we did it because it was the right thing to do! Our CEO was the only executive from a Insurance Company to fly in and issue a claims check to a customer and get on local TV and Radio to inform the hurricane survivors on what to do! We also gave a $100K to the city of Beaumont. They asked us to locate them huge generators so that they could have electricity & a/c for their city hall and convention center so their employees & their families sleep in a/c and at least have a place that is comfortable to stay. Farmers did that! No recongniton, No media we did because it was the right thing to do! No other companies did anything but us and we continue to do good things down there!
So I don\’t think we need to have our organization change names or get bleed into as you suggest! We are a great company and we know what\’s right I was there first hand and saw it myself! You may disagree and that\’s ok but I know by first hand knowledge that we are on our way up and our brand, Farmers is not only strong now but will be even stronger in the near future!

    Valentin,
Do you know of any other companies who have problems with there customers or complaints? I bet not! No company is perfect they are a thousand cases just like Mary M. just check out the Allstatesucks.com you will find them there!
You can use that same website it will take you virtually every company including Farmers, State Farm, Geico, Progressive, etc. It\’s easy to pick out one case and make a point! Why don\’t you pick out the thousands of people we helped in the Hurricane Rita area and I mean helped not just paying claims but also getting them money, food, clean water, diapers etc. brought to them by Farmers employees, agents, District Managers, etc. Before always pointing to the negative of one case look at the whole body of work! You weren\’t there I was and I know what good things were done by Farmers. If your not happy please move on to Allstate or whoever they would love to have a guy like you with such great attitude!

Unfortunately there is a Mary M. in every company and it is sad to see someone slip through the cracks as she did. However there are many good things that FIG does that doesn\’t get advertised that maybe you should focus on!

Please understand I meant no insult when I hoped that Zurich\’s reputation would \”bleed into Farmer\’s Insurance\”. I truly admire your dedication and the efforts put forth by the staff of Farmer\’s at the time of Hurricane Rita. Unfortunately Farmers Insurance has suffered many adverse verdicts in California courts that were perceived by other insurance professionals as unwise investments. You are quite correct that no carrier has \”clean hands\” but Farmers Insurance reputation in California for high dollar bad-faith verdicts undeniably hurt their reputation in the industry and made them a target of the plaintiff attorneys. I wish Farmers and Zurich only the best. Your heart-felt response to the commentary of this article reveals (that with employees like you) they are on the road to recovering their reputation.
