March 1, 2006

Lloyd’s announced that it has honored Garry Edwards of Hilb Rogal & Hobbs as U.S. Surplus Lines Broker of the Year and William H. Eyre, Jr. of Towers Perrin as Reinsurance Broker of the Year, “for their outstanding contribution to the Lloyd’s market.”

Lloyd’s announced the awards at its 5th annual US Broker Awards ceremony hosted by Chairman Lord Peter Levene in London.

Lloyd’s said: “The winners for 2005 were chosen for their achievements within the US industry and their exceptional contribution to the Lloyd’s market. Given the events of last year’s US hurricane season, the judges commended the winners for their knowledge and proficiency in working with the Lloyd’s market to deliver outstanding solutions for their clients.”

Lord Levene commented: “I am pleased to honor both Garry and Bill with these awards and would like to thank them for their dedication and contribution to the Lloyd’s market over the past 25 years. These awards are designed to recognize the exceptional skills and expertise used within the market and there is no doubt that both Garry and Bill have successfully demonstrated this through the provision of tailored innovative solutions to their clients, not just in 2005, but throughout their careers.”

Wendy Baker, President of Lloyd’s America, noted: “The U.S. remains Lloyd’s largest market and we’re committed to further development of our business there. Garry and Bill are examples of the critical role brokers play in developing successful relationships with customers in the U.S.”

Edwards, HRH Sr. VP, said he was “delighted to receive this award from Lloyd’s in recognition of the many years I have traded with the market. It has been a pleasure working with Lloyd’s for two decades and I hope to continue this successful association for many years to come.”

Eyre, Managing Director and CEO of Towers Perrin’s reinsurance business, commented: “I am honored to be named the Lloyd’s US Reinsurance Broker of the Year. This award is the result of the efforts of many individuals at Towers Perrin and I graciously accept it on behalf of the firm. I have had the good fortune of working in the reinsurance business for 25 years, and have always found Lloyd’s to be a marketplace built on trust and relationships – high quality virtues that are lasting in a rapidly changing business environment.”

Lloyd’s indicated that it had “established the US Broker awards in 2002 to highlight the important role that brokers play in Lloyd’s success in the US insurance and reinsurance markets.”

The selection committee for the awards comprised Julian James, Director, Worldwide Markets, Lloyd’s; Wendy Baker, President, Lloyd’s America; Jonathan Gray, Head of Property Group, Beazley; Andrew Carrier, Active Underwriter of Reinsurance, Kiln; and Jonathan Parry, Active Underwriter, Limit.
