Aon Appoints Wada as New ‘Chief Diversity Officer’ – Asia Pacific

Aon Corp. announced from its Hong Kong office that Randy Wada, CEO of Aon Japan, has been appointed Chief Diversity Officer for Asia Pacific and will serve on the company’s global diversity advisory board. Aon characterized the move as part of its “its growing diversity initiative.”

“Asia Pacific represents one of the most culturally diverse regions within Aon,” explained Bernard S.Y. Fung, chairman and CEO of Aon Asia Pacific. “Randy’s extensive experience in recruiting, nurturing and developing talents representative of the diverse cultures comprising the Asia Pacific region has been and will continue to be a key success factor for our firm.”

Wada joined Aon in 1997 as the National Managing Director for the Japan Group America when Aon acquired Alexander & Alexander. He transferred to Japan as the CEO of Aon Risk Services Japan Ltd. in 1999 and added the role of Japan Country Manager in 2004. Throughout most of his 25-year career in the insurance industry, Wada has been responsible for delivering value-added risk management services to Japanese firms

Corbette Doyle, Aon’s chief global diversity officer, noted that “Japan is facing the most severe workforce shortages in the world,” indicating that Wada’s “first-hand perspective” in dealing with the problem makes him an ideal choice to expand Aon’s diversity initiatives throughout the region.

Aon said its “goal for its global diversity initiative is to create a world-class magnet for talent that nurtures the unique background, skills and creativity of the company’s 43,000 colleagues around the world.”
