How often do we see bikes ignore stop signs, red lights, vehicles in general. They seem to want the rights without the responsibility. If lights are required at dark, application is for cars and bikes. Failing this, operator of either has put themselves at risk. Shame on both for not considering their families that love them.
We dont have facts to blame either or both. On the other hand, the judge did.

so both are at-fault — um…what was the speed limit in the area? i bet it was not 100 mph, since it was a residential area and not on an autobahn. granted the cyclist did not have proper equipment, but he had entered the intersection from a side road. he probably looked both ways and proceeded thinking it was clear. at 100 mph, you reaction time in small areas is not very good nor is sight. if anything the city or police should have cited him for speed greater than reasonable and vehicular manslaughter.

now, was he under the influence of drugs or alcohol? it never said in the article either way. need someone to research this more — afterall, what was the true speed limit?
