Lloyd’s is a UK Leading Business Brand

Lloyd’s announced that it has been selected as “one of the UK’s strongest business brands…and the highest rated insurance organization – in the Business Superbrands 2008 list.”

Lloyd’s described the selection process as “robust.” It polled “the views of an independent and voluntary council of experts and over 1500 business professionals.”

A Lloyd’s spokesperson commented: “The movement from 73 to 44 in this year’s Business Superbrands top 500 reflects the continuing work we have undertaken to enhance the Lloyd’s brand. Along with a strong rating, international access and the security of the Central Fund, our brand is what attracts people to Lloyd’s.”

Business Superbrands is a unique initiative from the Superbrands organization, the global branding arbiters. Business Superbrands is in its eighth year and has become a key barometer on the performance of brands across a wide variety of sectors.

Ed. Note: Admittedly some of our readers could justifiably place this news in the “sun comes up” category. It would have been far more surprising if Lloyd’s, after over 300 years in the business, hadn’t been recognized as a leading brand. However, in today’s globalized financial economy brand names are increasingly important. Peer recognition underscores that fact.
