It seems to me that a more probable cause for an increase in Nitrous Oxide emissions in the northern hemisphere, is the increased use of diesel/derv fueled vehicles. It used to be mainly trucks and other goods vehicles that used this fuel. Now, particularly in Europe, well over 50% of automobile sales are diesel. These do many more miles per gallon and produce less Co2, but produce many times more nitrous oxides (300 times more warming than Co2 by volume).
The popularity of diesel engines was, in part, due to the environmental lobby claiming that they were better for the environment. As most people guessed, this wasn’t exactly true. Diesel exhaust is also responsible for the deteriorating air quality in cities and produces most of the carcinogenic carbon particulates. Basically,this is a problem exacerbated by yet another incomplete thought process from the global warming lobby (along with biofuels, which has resulted in the accelerated destruction of rain forests to produce palm oil).
At the risk of being attacked by all of the climate fanatics, let’s set the record straight on this. Go on NASA’s site and plug in AQUA. This is a satellite which NASA launched over 10 years ago to specifically monitor green house gas in the atmosphere. You will be surprised I’m sure, to find, that in fact, the emissions are so miniscule that they are barely detectable. Apparently, what has occurred is that these gases are eaten up by the atmosphere, and the recordable amount is miniscule. Now that isn’t to say, that there should not be sufficient controls in place to both monitor and curb excessive emissions, but the truth be told, go follow the money! Remember folks, some 20 years ago, then the world was going to see another ice age; it was a scientific fact, Time had a major issue with pictorial assessments of who would be impaired by this natural catastrophic event. The Danes have been monitoring temperature on almost a world wide basis for over 140 years, atmospheric events change, conditions change, yet here we have ostensibly a portion of the scientific community espousing global warming, with little if any accuracy but always holding thei hands out for funding.
