If anything ever happened to the global economy, most Americans are nowhere near prepared to suffer through more than a few days of no electric, water, money or food. It would be a disaster of epic proportions. I have to get back in my attic now, I think I hear the zombies approaching….
Agree with UCT – in my case, ever since I lived in CA in the early ’90’s I have maintained 3-4 weeks of supplies for my family in case of emergency. Shocking when you see panic buying every time a storm rolls through. Taught my kids that there are two kinds of people – those who believe in a nanny society and those who will survive.
I’m in CA too. I keep some supplies and tools in a container out back just in case the house collapses during the big one. I’m a native but have found the earthquakes more disturbing as I get older, not less. We keep not just food and water but also tents, sleeping bags, and of course TP.
