ACE Promotes Salmon, Germano for European Casualty

August 12, 2013

The ACE Group today announced the promotion of Jerome Salmon to the position of Regional Casualty Manager, Continental Europe. He will have profit center responsibility for ACE’s casualty portfolio across the region, and will “also be responsible for driving strategy for the portfolio, ensuring its profitable growth and continuing its expansion into new niche markets,” ACE said.

Salmon was previously responsible for ACE’s multinational and major risk casualty accounts in Continental Europe. He will continue to be based in Paris, reporting to Jeff Moghrabi, COO Continental Europe at ACE and to Mark Homan, Executive VP Casualty for ACE Overseas General. He takes over from Rosemary Ness, “who,” ACE said, “has chosen to take a career break.”

ACE has also promoted Connie Germano, Casualty Manager, Middle Market and Life Sciences, Continental Europe at ACE, to the role of Regional Technical Manager Casualty and Underwriting Manager Casualty Specialties, Continental Europe.

She will “retain her existing technical underwriting responsibilities, and continue to oversee and grow ACE’s life sciences portfolio in the region,” ACE said. “She will also assume additional responsibility for managing underwriting and product development for casualty in the specialty areas of product recall, food tamper, construction, chemicals and energy risks.” Germano will continue to be based in Zurich, reporting to Salmon.

Moghrabi commented: “Casualty is a sector of great strategic importance for ACE in Continental Europe, where we have we have built up significant breadth and depth of expertise. These promotions reflect our continued investment and will help us continue to deploy our international and local knowledge to support the evolving needs of our customers.”

He also noted both of the promoted executives experience, and thanked “Rosie Ness for her significant contribution to ACE over more than 20 years and wish her well for the future.”

Salmon has over 20 years of experience in underwriting and management positions, gained mainly in France across a number of insurance companies. He joined ACE in August 2012 from AIG France, where he was most recently head of the company’s liability division with responsibility for casualty, environmental liability, product contamination and fleet motor risks across all customer segments.

Germano began her career as an underwriter and has over 25 years of insurance industry experience, including ten at ACE, gained mainly in the US. Before joining the Continental Europe team in Zurich in August 2012, Connie served as a US national account segment leader for ACE with responsibility for managing a book of lead umbrella and excess liability insurance business, that included companies with global exposures.
