Willis Group Holdings, the global risk adviser, insurance and reinsurance broker, announced that it has promoted Philip Smaje to Chief Broking Officer for Willis GB, the operating segment that includes Willis’s UK retail insurance business, facultative and London specialty businesses.
He will work closely with Jonathan Prinn, Deputy Chief Broking Officer for Willis GB, and will be responsible for driving the unit’s broking strategy.
John Rooley will succeed Smaje as CEO of Willis’s Aerospace business based in London, with responsibility for global risks and client servicing. He has until now been based in Vancouver as CEO of Willis Aerospace Americas, and will shortly relocate back to London where he will lead the continued expansion of Willis’s Aerospace business.
Smaje said he would work “with the leadership across Willis GB to drive better solutions and results for our clients while at the same time ensuring a consistent approach to insurers. I also look forward to connecting with our colleagues in Willis North America, Willis International and our central placement team to bring the best of Willis to our clients around the world.”
Rooley added: “Willis has a tremendous client base served by a very talented team of Associates and I am honored to take the helm. The Aviation market has shown incredible resilience in the face of some catastrophic events recently and I am proud to continue in Philip’s footsteps, working closely with this market to deliver innovative and custom-built risk management solutions on behalf of our clients.”
