AEGIS London Appoints King to Underwrite Global PI Book

Underwriter Martin King has been appointed to help expand AEGIS London’s professional indemnity (PI) capabilities and product offering.

King joins from Novae, where he was unit head for PI and directors & officers. King has worked in the insurance market for 33 years, beginning his career as a broker with C.T Bowring in 1982.

He moved to Scottish Lion Insurance in 1988 to become a trainee PI underwriter, writing his own book at HIH Casualty & General from 1994. After setting up a PI account for Goshawk, he joined Novae (then SVB) in 2003 where he formed a UK and international portfolio for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). He also managed and developed an existing portfolio of larger, more complex international PI risks.

AEGIS London has written a North American-focused professional indemnity book for three years; King’s arrival will broaden that footprint to become fully global, the company said. He will report to deputy active underwriter Matt Yeldham.

“With AEGIS London, Martin will be looking at the standard PI professions on a broad international basis, which will complement fellow PI underwriter Nick Leighton’s North American book,” Yeldham said.

“Martin is an extremely experienced and capable PI underwriter and a highly credible figure in the market, having written a successful commercial PI book for over 20 years, which gives him real insight into his class and its performance,” he continued.
