Zurich and AIG have fallen on hard times and had to cut employees and expenses. They both got a little too big for their breaches.

BKE, if you don’t have a comment on the story, stay off the blog. We have little use for a know it all Millenial who is angry at the world. Did you get laid off by AIG or Zurich?

It was actually very easy. Insulting language, use of the word “tool” and they are typically angry about something all the time like you apparently are.

As an ex FIG agent, I have little sympathy for Zurich. They bastardized a once great American Top 3 carrier, and have ruined the lives / business of many long term Farmers Agencies. Karma is a Biotch.

It is interesting lonestar and I agree that Zurich has made a lot of mistakes in the past 10 years or so. They actually thought they could have Farmers do their underwriting on Commercial. Then they switched that over to Foremost???? I get emails from them all the time offering specialty programs and half of them are through brokers and a fair amount in Excess – Surplus Lines.

Marty Feinstein is the one who started Farmers on it’s downward trend. He wanted the agents to do everything, auto loans, mortgage loans and investments and on and on. Being a great home and auto agent is enough to keep up with these days.

DougJ, many believe that Marty left because he saw the strings Zurich was getting ready to pull. Many also believe that Marty was the last “agent friendly” CEO of Farmers. I think the “downward trend” for Farmers was actually cast by Zurich purchasing a majority position back in ’00 or Y2K.

Now that you two (Agent and BKE) have made up, the Comments can continue with some civility. Having worked at Zurich here in the States for some years, I always knew them to have their corporate head stuck where the sun doesn’t shine. Their goal seemed to be to outsource everything but collecting the premium.

Hi Ex, it was probably good that you got away from Zurich before they laid you off. I have seen the signs for a while now. You are right about them outsourcing most things now. They said they had a market for Gasoline Haulers and come to find out, they just offered a broker arrangement with reduced commissions. It was quite a hassle and then they turned out to be high anyway.

As much as I laugh at and make fun of Agent’s obsession with AIG, his “breaches” comment was simply a typo. It is correctly spelled “breeches” not “britches” as one of you lazy humps suggested. Typical deflection tactic typically used by uninformed posters simply looking for a reaction. Worthless.

      phoenix,

Britches and breeches are both acceptable, depending on how old you are. The term breeches, in reference to knee-length trousers worn by men, was replaced by britches in the early-mid 19th Century. About the time agent was an adolescent.

phoenix, I have seen posts from those on the liberal side of this blog where whole paragraphs had numerous misspellings and bad grammar. It goes to their Common Core education. If I have one letter out of place, you would think the world was coming to an end. They think all Conservatives are bad and they are so angry that they immediately attack. Everyone but them knew what I meant.

here’s my take: I think Trump is a plant by Hillary. Go ahead, call me a conspiracy nut. It’s well documented that he’s been a contributor of hers over the years, plus the Clintons were at Trumps wedding to Melania. He has publicly praised her several times in the past. I think he went to Hillary and told her that he could give her the election.

All of the comments he’s made lately will GUARANTEE she wins, and probably in a landslide. I honestly think he’s shocked that he’s still in this.

The man is an entertainer, not a real leader. He has run several businesses into the ground, declared bankruptcy several times, and is a complete disgrace to the Republican party. Sure, he’s not politically correct, but he also doesn’t THINK before he says anything.

Do you really believe he could deport 11 million illegal immigrants if he’s elected? Explain the logistics of that, please. What about banning ALL Muslims from entering the US? Yeah, that’s practical. I’m sure he’d also stop ISIS< right?

Trump appeals to the lowest common denominator of Republican voters. His candidacy is setting the party back and it will take YEARS to recover from this.

Give me Rubio, Cruz, or preferably Paul Ryan if he'd run. I like some of Ben Carson's ideas but he doesn't have enough experience for the presidency. I'd love to see him in a cabinet position of some sort, though.

Cue all the Trump supporters vehemently calling me a progressive, liberal, socialist, troll. bring it. I'm a registered Republican, and Trump doesn't speak for me. If it comes down to him and the Hildebeest, I'll gladly sit this one out.

louie, why don’t we see how this plays out on the candidates before stating we will sit it out. That is how Republicans played into the hands of Democrats and we got the second term of Obama. Gee, how did that work out for us?

Someone who is really sharp and running a good campaign is Ted Cruz. The media keeps trying to get him to personally attack Trump and others and he politely tells them he doesn’t attack other Republicans. He is saving his ammunition for Hildebeest. By the way, any of the Republicans running would be 100% better than than Hildebeest and or Bernie. She should have been put in handcuffs by now for her deeds while Secretary of State.

They need to look hard at “underperforming” units and clean house as respect every level of management in those units. The rank and file are good workers- management are mind numbed AIG rejects– and look hard at where AIG is now
