UK’s Bretton Woods International Gets UK Regulatory Nod, Becomes Lloyd’s Broker

December 13, 2017

Bretton Woods International (BWI), the specialist insurance broker and managing general agent, has received a license to operate in the UK as an independent broker and, at the same time, is now registered as a Lloyd’s broker.

London-based BWI was established more than two years ago and has been trading as an appointed representative of Prospect Insurance Brokers.

“We are grateful to Prospect for allowing us to operate under their license to date, but it has always been the intention for BWI to develop into a fully independent broking firm,” said BWI CEO Dan Goggin. “This latest achievement marks a significant milestone in our development.”

He said the company’s brokerage license was approved by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, a process that coincided with its registration as a Lloyd’s broker.

“Lloyd’s welcomes Bretton Woods International to the market and is delighted that we will be a key business partner. We wish them all the best with developing their business in the Lloyd’s market,” said Umron Ahmed, head of Global Distribution.

“This latest step allows Bretton Woods to continue to develop and grow whilst providing a truly independent option to our clients for services with Lloyd’s as well as the wider company marketplace,” said BWI in a statement.

As a Lloyd’s broker, BWI said it is entitled to enter into terms of business agreements with any Lloyd’s managing agent. It will continue to use its own broker number – BWI 1392
